In the late 1980s, Menghai Tea Factory began pressing smaller 100g tea bricks using higher-grade leaves with fine tender buds on top. The surface has a glossy, oily appearance, making it finer than other Pu-er teas of the time. Compared to the 1992 square tea bricks, these 1980s bricks have a thicker texture and more pronounced flavor.
