In the period 1949-1951, about 500 Leica cameras (number 359001-359500) were assembled in the Sarre (French zone of Germany), in order to avoid the high customs charges applied in France to import cameras. These cameras carried the engraving "Monte en Sarre" (assembled in Saar) on the top-plate. The camera comes with Summicron 2/5cm (#1365342) and lens cap, in mint condition. Please refer to James Lager Vol.I p.82 for further illustration.
