The prototype lens was in action at the Olympic Games in 1988, only six pieces were made. With substantial changes between it went into production in 1992. The rear part of the prototype lens is shorter, without built-in carrying handle. Also, the engravings of model names are different; and the closer focusing distance of the prototype lens is 15 feet, instead of 25 feet for the official one. This set comes with lens hood, aluminum case, separate carrying handle, instruction manual, Series 5.5 filter and quick release plate.
