由福鼎大白品種茶樹之春茶茶芽為原料，取其嫩稍一芯一葉，葉身挺直如針，故又名「北路銀針」。此茶製作嚴謹，一般採於明前北風晴天，此時茶芽雪白，茸毛滿披，白亮豐膄而富光澤，質量較佳，及後以「烘乾」方式製作。沖泡後湯色杏黃，味鮮而清爽，另有白毫銀針及白毫候之稱號。
