This heavy cake has been well preserved in natural storage, showing almost no signs of wear. Made from premium Mengla tea leaves with a higher proportion of buds, the cake displays long, thick strips on both sides. The metal-mould compression produced a tightly pressed form that aged slowly, a quality not immediately appreciated at the time, leading to the discontinuation of production. It was only years later that the Red Mark Iron Cake was recognised for its remarkable transformation, becoming one of the most sought-after Pu-er teas on the market today.
